STEM Together recently partnered with the NSHS Chemistry Club to host an engaging and hands-on Chemistry Workshop for middle school students in the Greater Boston area.

Designed for rising 6th to 9th graders, the workshop brought science to life through a series of interactive experiments, giving students the opportunity to explore real chemical reactions in a fun and accessible way.

Participants experienced four exciting labs in one session, working with more than 15 different chemicals. Activities included crowd favorites such as Elephant Toothpaste, Flame Tests, Precipitation reactions, and Redox color-changing experiments. Each activity was carefully designed to both demonstrate core scientific concepts and spark curiosity.

What made this workshop especially impactful was the leadership behind it. The lab experiences were designed and led by nationally ranked USNCO finalists, offering students a unique chance to learn from top young scientists in an approachable and inspiring environment.

Beyond the experiments, the event created a welcoming space where students could collaborate, ask questions, and build confidence in STEM. Snacks and drinks added to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, making it easy for students to connect and fully enjoy the experience.

Held in Newton, Massachusetts, the workshop reflects STEM Together’s mission to make STEM education hands-on, inclusive, and inspiring for the next generation.

We are proud of all the students who participated and grateful to the student leaders who made this event possible. We look forward to bringing more opportunities like this to our community.
