On January 31, 2026, the Boston Makers & Innovators Challenge wrapped up with outstanding success at Newton North High School. The event brought together a vibrant community of young creators, families, and educators from across Greater Boston to celebrate bold ideas and real-world problem solving.
More than 120 students from over 70 schools, representing grades K–10, came together to share projects that blended science, technology, engineering, art, and math. From early prototypes to polished demonstrations, each project reflected deep curiosity and a willingness to tackle complex challenges. The energy in the room made it clear that innovation is alive and well in our classrooms and communities.
Throughout the day, students presented forward-looking solutions to real-world issues, from sustainability and health to AI and community impact. They explained their thinking, answered questions, and learned from one another’s work. The Challenge created a space where young people could see themselves not just as students, but as makers, inventors, and future leaders.
Projects were evaluated by a distinguished panel of eight judges, including professors from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, leading artificial intelligence experts, nationally recognized science educators, and accomplished entrepreneurs. Upholding the highest standards of integrity and academic excellence, the jury conducted a rigorous and impartial review process to determine this year’s top honors.
Award recipients represent the highest level of distinction among this year’s competitors, and we extend our warmest congratulations to these exceptional students. Their achievements showcase remarkable creativity, intellectual courage, and a commitment to shaping the future through innovation. At the same time, we celebrate every participant for having the courage to explore, to question, and to imagine what is possible. The Boston Makers & Innovators Challenge remains dedicated to empowering the next generation of thinkers, builders, and problem-solvers — young leaders who will help define the future of science, technology, and humanity through inclusive, hands-on STEM learning across Greater Boston.
